Using WebFOCUS, Bulova built an intuitive dashboard that allows users to quickly retrieve vital sales details from their PCs, laptops, or iPads. Parameterized reporting capabilities enable users to filter information by brands, products/styles, customers, and other criteria, or view information by location or time period. A separate management dashboard provides a broader sales summary for senior members of the team. Executives can view activity at the global, regional, or district level, then drill down to see the details behind trends. In addition, they can view costing and profit information for the company as a whole, as well as its individual brands.
Bulova is also using WebFOCUS ReportCaster for exception reporting. With the feature, stakeholders are instantly notified when pricing changes occur, merchandise is not available, items are placed on backorder, or orders are cancelled because merchandise has shipped late. These alerts are automatically triggered when certain status codes are entered into the company's JD Edwards systems, or when certain data values fall outside of specified thresholds.
The success of its sales reporting efforts has prompted Bulova to expand the use of BI and analytics to other areas of the organization. Drawing on WebFOCUS and Information Builders' iWay integration technologies, Bulova significantly enhanced the company's POS reporting environment by automating previously manual data entry processes. The company has also rolled out additional dashboards to other enterprise departments, including finance and purchasing.
