SVForum, Silicon Valley’s leading non-profit organization devoted to innovation, connection, technology, and entrepreneurship, announced today a Startup Expo to be held on October 23rd, 2013, in Menlo Park, California. SVForum has long played a central role for entrepreneurs and investors seeking their next step; the Startup Expo, a first in the organization’s history, is poised to push that role in a dynamic new direction.
“Startup Expo is a unique venture for our organization—an open, interactive environment in which investors and startups can meet,” stated SVForum CEO Susan Lucas-Conwell. “We’re extremely proud to be at the forefront of an event like this.” Despite its relative newness, the Expo is a prime example of SVForum’s mission: guiding technology startups and entrepreneurs toward the help they need—both financially and philosophically—to get their companies off the ground.
“Being at the helm of a brand-new startup company is one of the most challenging experiences the business world has to offer,” Lucas-Conwell added. “Rewarding, yes, but trying as well. The entrepreneurs that sign up for SVForum’s Startup Expo are being offered a much-needed jump-start, a chance to cut down on the slack time between starting out and ‘making good.’”
Instead of formal pitches, the expo floor will be open for investors to visit demo tables freely, approaching startups at their own discretion. Throughout the day, they’ll be treated to a variety of demonstrations from an eclectic group of emerging technology companies--everything from cloud tech to education software to portfolio management will be represented on the Expo floor.
“We’re excited to be part of Startup Expo,” said Curtis Mo, a partner of Startup Expo sponsor DLA Piper. “There are a broad range of companies, from medicine to social media, and they each have unique visions. We all hope they represent the ‘next big thing’ in their fields and that the Expo will give them high profiles.

The Expo will take place at Quadrus Conference Center on Sand Hill Road. Presentations will begin at 1:00 pm, and conclude at 5:00 pm. A reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres will follow (an occasion reserved for participants and investors only).
Startup Expo is open to accredited investors and emerging tech startups seeking Series A, B, and C rounds of funding, as well as seed funding. Pre-registration is required in order to participate.
