Sixth Annual Irish Gala Dinner Dance to Honor Irish Arizonans at Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On October 19, three Irish Arizonans will be honored at the sixth annual Anam Cara Gala Awards Dinner and Dance in Phoenix. Hosted by the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Irish Library, the Anam Cara Gala will feature songs, dance, food, and beverages of Ireland.   Entertainment will include Irish dancers, music by De Mairt Ceol and the Irish Cultural Center Academy Band, bagpipers, and traditional and modern Irish songs by Pat McCrossan

Receiving the Anam Cara awards will be Maureen McGuire, Frank Leavy, and Meghan Tomasik Grabel for their significant contributions to the community and the Irish in Arizona. Maureen McGuire designed the Hunger Memorial and Celtic stained-glass windows for the Irish Cultural Center. Frank Leavy, of Harvest Meat Company, is a founder of the Irish Cultural Center and the Phoenix St. Patrick's Day Parade. Meghan Tomasik Grabel is an attorney and General Manager of Regulatory Strategy at Arizona Public Service (APS) and she was the 2002 Arizona Irish Colleen.

The event is open to the public and begins at 6:00 PM at the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Irish Library, 1106 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004-1817,

(Central and Roosevelt Avenues, at the "Roosevelt" Light Rail station). Ticket prices are $125 per person for members of the Irish Cultural and Learning Foundation, and $175 for non-members.

The Anam Cara Gala raises funds for the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Irish Library, which provide educational and cultural programming for the Valley community through classes, festivals, exhibits and special events. The history, music, art, dance, literature, drama, crafts, language, genealogy research, travel, sports and traditions of Ireland and other Celtic cultures are presented year-round at the Irish Cultural Center through the Academy of Irish and Celtic Studies and the McClelland Irish Library.
