AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 10/15/13 -- How do you make an advertisement stand out in a world where potential customers are more and more savvy to marketing strategies? Ask Austin-based Rock Candy Media. The content-driven design firm recently launched an ad campaign for client Austin Urology Institute that's created quite a splash.
The campaign is simple, but effective: a series of signs reminding viewers to mind their urological health are strategically placed over the urinals in the restrooms of the Long Center for the Performing Arts.
"Spending too much of the show in here?" quips one ad. "Prostate issues could be slowing your flow."
The ads will run for a year, with messages changing out quarterly.
"We've had a lot of inquiries about the signs," says Colin Acock, the interim development director for the Long Center. "Ushers and patrons have all commented on them, and are excited to see all the clever sayings to come later in the year. I'm very proud of our partnership and the buzz it's created."
"This has been my favorite collaboration with Rock Candy Media," says Dr. Koushik Shaw, founder of Austin Urology Institute. "They created an ad that people are talking about at intermission. That kind of marketing is what makes a difference for businesses."
For Rock Candy Media, that kind of guerilla marketing is all in a day's work. The company, whose motto is "we are the anti-template," specializes in creating original and engaging content and custom marketing strategies.
Earlier this year Rock Candy Media developed and launched its own app, KnowBuddy. That app is designed to do valuable client research for companies, taking the place of costly focus groups. Rock Candy Media client ShoreTel was the first company to use the KnowBuddy for their 'Phone Personality Quiz'.
Rock Candy Media also grabbed headlines this summer when it created the first custom Chrome extension exclusive to an advertising agency, puggin.it, to showcase its creative talent. Inspired by the Chrome extension a Brooklyn designer created that transforms web images into photos of actor Ryan Gosling, the puggin.it extension replaces web images with pugs.
