WASHINGTON, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council (FRC) opposes the "deal" being voted on today by the U.S. Congress to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling without addressing issues that will hurt American families and threaten life and religious liberty under Obamacare.
Of the "deal" FRC President Tony Perkins said:
"Obamacare will continue unabated on the so-called Senate 'deal' and those opposed to this oppressive law and who believe in our fundamental freedoms must not give up. We certainly won't back down.
"This 'deal' does nothing to provide fairness to families who, unlike businesses, have not been exempted from the Affordable Care Act's mandates. Nor does this 'deal' do anything to stop Americans from being forced to subsidize other people's abortions or even address the secrecy clause which would be addressed by passing the common sense bipartisan bill sponsored by U.S. Reps. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), Diane Black (R-Tenn.) and Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.). Last, this 'deal' does nothing to protect our fundamental right to apply our religious beliefs to our health care decisions since the HHS mandate continues to threaten employers such as Conestoga Wood, Inc. and Autocam, Inc., and will threaten the conscience rights of non-profit organizations such as the Little Sisters of the Poor starting in January. While the ACA's bad medicine is already evident in rising healthcare premiums and faulty exchanges the most far-reaching and irreversible damage to America's First Freedom, the freedom to live according to the dictates of your faith, has yet to be realized in its totality.
"We will continue to fight for the freedoms of Americans, rather than protect the Washington establishment as Congress takes up future spending bills," Perkins concluded.
