SVForum, Silicon Valley's premiere non-profit organization devoted to innovative technology and entrepreneurship, announced today its upcoming conference "Technology Meets Sports: Game On!" to be held on December 5th, 2013. The conference will bring together the best innovation in sports—performance, business, and the fan experience—for an action-packed day. Highlights include keynote speeches from visionaries such as Stephen Byrd (STATS), Tim Chang (Mayfield Fund), Rishi Diwan (SAP), Jef Holove (Basis), Philippe Kahn (Fullpower Technologies), Amy Love (Netapp), and Shailo Rao (Beyond the Box), as well as lightning pitches from up-and-coming startups.
SVForum is the foremost not-for-profit in Silicon Valley, building connections and providing education to a global network of technology-driven innovators, entrepreneurs, and business professionals. "I am proud that SVForum is organizing the first sports tech conference ever held in the Valley and can't wait for game time," stated SVForum CEO Susan Lucas-Conwell. "The conference will showcase how technology is disrupting sports as we know it: the business, performance, and our appreciation of both—on the sofa or in the stadium."
The sports experience is more interactive than ever: fans have immediate access to stats and game history; they can follow favorite players on Twitter, and connect with other fans across the country. Athletes and casual gym-goers track their progress via apps and wearable tech; professional teams follow electronic playbooks.
"Technology is fundamentally transforming the business of sports, enabling leagues, teams and venues to completely re-think how they approach all facets of the game," stated Rishi Diwan, VP and Global Head of Sports Product Management at SAP. "SAP is excited to bring its 40+ years of technology experience and leadership to the world of sports, and we're looking forward to exchanging insights and best-practices with other leading voices in the same arena."
"We all know Silicon Valley is the epicenter for innovation,” said Stephen Byrd, Co-COO at STATS. “This is a great opportunity to lay out what STATS has done in the past and explain how we can work with technology leaders to change the sports experience going forward. I believe the depth and breadth of our content will be eye-opening to many at SVForum."
"As the leader of an organization dedicated to fostering innovation-and an avid baseball fan, myself!-it's exciting to watch the agenda unfold and the conference grow," Lucas-Conwell said. "This is an event our organization has been looking forward all year."
"Technology Meets Sports: Game On!" is sponsored by SAP, who will also host the event at their Palo Alto, California location. The conference will begin at 8:00 AM, and conclude at 4:30 PM. Throughout the day, attendees will be treated to both speeches and interactive discussions, as well as demo tables and networking opportunities.
