We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
SHINER, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/18/06 -- On Saturday, Oct. 14th, the population of the
little town of Shiner, Texas swelled to new heights when a crowd of more
than 20,000 eager concert-goers packed Green Dickson Park for Texas'
largest one-day outdoor music festival. A powerhouse blend of Country,
Modern Rock, Alternative and Americana performers kept music enthusiasts
and Shiner fans enjoying good music, delicious food, and of course, great
beer.
This year's star-studded musical line-up was headlined by alternative
rockers Godsmack, who energized Shiner Bocktoberfest with songs from their
new CD "IV" and fan favorites like "Voodoo" highlighted by a roaring
pyrotechnics display. In addition to Godsmack, wildly popular group Blue
October hypnotized the crowd with smash hits like "Hate Me" and "Into the
Ocean" and Pat Green had the audience swaying in their boots to his upbeat
Texas tunes. Grand Ole Opry inductees Diamond Rio had the crowd dancing
and chanting for more while Restless Heart belted out old favorites to
cheering fans. The Old 97's gave their trademark energetic live
performance while Pat Green sat onstage to watch. Concert-goers were also
introduced to Shiner recording artist Lost Immigrants as they opened the
concert with a unique blend of country, rock, pop and blues.
"The city of Shiner is once again proud to host Shiner Bocktoberfest," said
Billy Petru with the Shiner Chamber of Commerce. "Huge acts like Godsmack
draw an eclectic crowd to our little town, and we always look forward to
sharing our famous Shiner Beer and hospitality with visitors."
Shiner is home to the award winning portfolio of Shiner Beers brewed at the
Spoetzl Brewery -- Texas' Oldest Independent Brewery®. Shiner Brewmaster
Jimmy Mauric led the crowd in a toast to celebrate the brewery's 97th
anniversary and the launch of Shiner 97, a limited-edition, Bohemian Black
Lager. Plenty of the commemorative ale was on-hand for concert-goers to
sample and enjoy throughout the day.
Proceeds from the Shiner Bocktoberfest Concert benefit the Shiner Chamber
of Commerce and other Shiner civic and charitable organizations.
