DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/19/13 -- Arthouse Design (www.arthousedenver.com), a Denver-based graphic design studio offering city branding, company and product branding, print, and electronic design, and wayfinding signage and environmental graphic design services worldwide, has been commissioned to create designs & drawings for city branding strategies, a wayfinding and signage system, banners, and informational kiosks for the city of Iowa City, Iowa. Specifically, Arthouse Design will be developing banner poles, banner campaigns, kiosk bases, and entry gateways for downtown Iowa City, Iowa. Arthouse Design is participating on this project in conjunction with Genus Landscape Architects, of Des Moines, Iowa, and studio INSITE, of Denver, Colorado.
Multiple goals are in play, according to Arthouse Design Principal & Founder Marty Gregg. "Downtown Iowa City is loaded with charm but the current signage system, information kiosks, and hardscaping have been in place for decades and need a facelift, and also need to provide more information for visitors," he said. "This was a perfect time for Iowa City, Iowa to freshen up their navigation, signage, and wayfinding and make them more functional and helpful to visitors, as well as provide a stronger connection and 'bridge' to the adjacent University of Iowa campus," he explained.
Arthouse Design's "flagship" city branding work for Iowa City, Iowa will focus on designing new information kiosks that capture the charm of a Midwestern university town, while also providing the functional information needed by visitors. These new information kiosks will replace existing information kiosks, and will include maps, directions to downtown and university landmarks, lighting, and more.
"This design commission from Iowa City, Iowa is a perfect job for the Arthouse Design team," said Mr. Gregg. "For starters, we have extensive experience helping cities rebrand themselves, and make specific areas or districts more defined, informative, and easy to navigate. In addition, our design team is smart, down-to-earth, and unpretentious, which fits the personality of Iowa City, Iowa."
