Extensis Announces Integration with Adlib and zetcom Information Systems; Brings Digital Asset Management Together with Collection Management Systems

Extensis today announced at the DISH Conference, that Portfolio Server is now available as an integral solution with two leading Collection Management Systems (CMS), Adlib and zetcom’s MuseumPlus. This move promises to deliver advanced media processing not available within a traditional CMS.

Collection Management Systems work well for managing object information from a curatorial perspective, but may not provide tools specifically designed for managing digital asset content.

Adlib and MuseumPlus’ integration with Portfolio Server’s Application Planning Interface (API) imaging functionality allows their CMS software to store and retrieve content in the Portfolio Server repository. In addition to this, CMS users are able to repurpose high resolution files on demand without leaving the CMS interface

Shaun Osborne, ICT Manager at The Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge - one of the heritage organisations benefitting from this integration - states: “Using this integration opens a rich seam of possibilities. Although the primary integration purpose is to allow users to seamlessly ingest and view images within the CMS client, bringing all the implied benefits of DAM to the user and organisation, the extended possibilities come when considering what functionality is now available for web applications leveraging these two systems in concert.”

Richard Bamford, EMEA Business Director at Extensis states: “With the Portfolio Server API, it’s now possible to create custom integrations for sharing information and metadata with your Customer Relationship Management, Content Management, Collection Management, or other business systems, eliminating unnecessary duplication of work and streamlining your workflow.”

At the DISH Conference, Extensis will demonstrate how to integrate Portfolio Server with other IT business systems and leverage the benefits of digital asset management across your organisation.

About Extensis Digital Asset Management Solution: Portfolio Server

Portfolio Server is a DAM system that helps organizations find, manage, and convert the digital assets associated with their collection objects. The system is quick to setup, easy to use, and includes an open API which allows customers to integrate DAM with other business systems, such as Collection Management Systems.

Collection Management Systems work well for managing object information from a curatorial perspective but may not provide tools specifically designed for managing digital asset content. Digital Asset Management Systems help museums, galleries, and cultural heritage organizations manage digital assets such as photographs of collection objects. By combining DAMS with CMS, institutions can provide an efficient and comprehensive collection information solution.

Extensis has a prestigious list of global heritage and cultural customers who use Portfolio Server, which includes the Courtauld Institute for Art (UK), The National Gallery of Art (Washington D.C.), The American Museum of Natural History (New York), Kiasma, The Museum of Contemporary Art (Helsinki), The Royal Botanical Gardens (Kew), The National Trust for Scotland (Edinburgh), The National Museum of Ireland (Dublin), The Royal Albert Hall (London), The British Library (London) and English Heritage (Swindon)
