BOSTON, Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Joss & Main, the fastest growing flash-sale site for the home, today reported that 42 percent of its orders were placed on mobile devices over the long holiday shopping weekend. That number marks a 50 percent increase in mobile orders year-over-year from 28 percent in 2012. Starting on Black Friday and continuing through Cyber Monday, the flash-sale retailer unveiled a total of 28 sale events featuring curated collections of items for gifting, entertaining and decorating. Sales momentum over the holiday weekend puts the retailer on track for three-fold growth in revenue for 2013.
"The numbers we've seen over the holiday shopping weekend prove that consumers value the opportunity to escape the chaos of shopping brick and mortar stores, and instead find exactly what they're looking for from the convenience of their home—all while receiving the savings they want," said Paul Toms, general manager for Joss & Main. "Overall, mobile sales continue to be a growing success driver for us, and we're proud to offer our members a robust and user-friendly shopping experience through this channel."
A breakdown of the mobile category shows that 17 percent of shoppers purchased from their phones and 25 percent purchased from their tablets this year. Shoppers also had the opportunity to browse celebrity curated collections featuring items hand-selected by Nicole Richie and Padma Lakshmi. Top selling items from the holiday shopping weekend included a crystal buffet server, mini chandelier, bamboo cheese board set, and cookware set. Joss & Main also added a new feature to their site this holiday season which alerts members of an "under the tree guarantee" on items that will arrive by December 24.
