CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 12/04/13 -- Harris D. McKinney, Inc. (HDM), a nationally recognized life science marketing and brand communications agency, today acquired San Francisco-based Zoomedia, the leading digital communications agency to the life sciences. The combined company, HDM | Zoomedia, will maintain offices in Chicago and San Francisco. HDM President and CEO Daniel Hoexter will head the new agency and current Zoomedia President Barbara Lavery and CEO Rebecca Angelos, along with HDM Vice President Dillon Allie will join the executive team.
In 2013, HDM was named one of the nation's top three small agencies by BtoB Magazine. HDM | Zoomedia will represent many of the largest and most important companies in the life sciences including Medtronic, Regeneron, Gilead, InterMune, Life Technologies, Sigma-Aldrich, Agilent Technologies and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
"The life science market continues to evolve rapidly, with companies successfully expanding research and development pipelines into clinical and commercial entities, moving from the private to public markets and launching global product strategies," says Mr. Hoexter. "The complexity of these businesses requires an agency partner with scientific expertise and excellence in marketing strategy, creative development, public relations, media planning and digital communications. The integration of HDM and Zoomedia forms a life science marketing powerhouse ideally suited to serving a diverse portfolio of life science clients -- from biotech startups to the Fortune 100."
The vision for a combined HDM and Zoomedia grew from shared clients and relationships over the past 10 years. "When the opportunity arose to join these two businesses together, it was a clear and obvious strategic fit," says Ms. Lavery. "We are now uniquely positioned to be the preeminent life science agency in the country, with a client roster that represents all segments of the industry from bench to bedside and beyond, including instrumentation and reagent manufacturers, biotech, CROs and CMOs, biotech, pharma and medical device companies, patient advocacy and disease research foundations and healthcare IT."
"Our plan is to create a new kind of marketing partner -- one with exceptional strategic, scientific, creative and digital talent that can affect real change by lifting life science brands beyond their technologies and facilitating effective, meaningful and authentic conversations with customers and other important stakeholders," continued Mr. Hoexter. "We have our sights set on working with the world's most important companies solving the most pressing scientific and healthcare challenges of today."
