IMS Health has moved to grow its real-world evidence services and footprint worldwide by purchasing life sciences advisory and analytics company Pygargus.
Pygargus’ patient information extracting and integrating technologies will be integrated into IMS Health’s RWE offering for various applications, including epidemiological studies, safety research and commercial analytics, IMS Health said Monday.
Jon Resnick, vice president and general manager of RWE services at IMS Health, said the company intends for the acquisition to help healthcare customers identify and analyze data sets.
Sweden-based Pygargus’ technology works to gather anonymous patient data from various sources, including electronic medical records, health registries and claims databases.
The acquisition also is intended to boost IMS Health’s global services for reimbursement, healthcare technology and post-marketing surveillance.
