SAP AG's mobile services division offered free international short message service to Philippine telecommunications operators in order to help Filipinos get in touch with loved ones based overseas after Typhoon Haiyan hit the country.
The company partnered with Smart Communications, Sun Cellular and Globe Telecom to offer the free text message service from Nov. 11 to Nov. 25, SAP said.
“In support of the Filipino community’s rebuilding and recovery, SAP is committed to contributing in a meaningful way by facilitating communication with overseas families and friends through unlimited international SMS services,” said Matthew Tonkin, vice president of Asia Pacific Japan for SAP Mobile Services.
SAP's global network and Asia Pacific Japan office also provided assistance through immediate aid, employee volunteering and fundraising programs with the help of local and international non-governmental organizations.
“We are dedicated to playing our part in support of relief efforts led by our longstanding mobile operator partners in the Philippines,” Tonkin added.
SAP has served as a partner of the Philippine-based telecom providers for the past decade.
