Navy Taps Lighting Company for LED Lights

Branch to install on cargo, ammo vessels

Seesmart, a Revolution Lighting Technologies company, has won a U.S. Navy contract to provide LED lights for cargo and ammunition vessels of the Military Sealift Command.

Revolution Lighting distributor QuaLED Lighting will work to deliver 17,000 four foot and two foot LED tube lights for the Lewis and Clark-class T-AKE ships, Revolution Lighting said Monday.

Robert V. LaPenta, chairman and CEO at Revolution Lighting Technologies, said the company is honored to support the Navy on the initiative meant to help the force save energy and cost.

"We look forward to additional projects with the Navy, as well as other military branches and government entities,” LaPenta added.

The tube lights are designed to replace fluorescent tube lamps and to be durable, low-maintenance and lightweight lamps expected to last for a long period of time.
