VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/17/13 -- The Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, was in Victoria today to announce support for five projects benefitting the Victoria area under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund.
The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
-- Five projects in the Victoria area have received $450,484 through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF). -- Funded projects include the rehabilitation of the stadium at Royal Athletic Park, upgrades to the Ogden Point breakwater walkway, renovations to the roof at the Garth Homer Society, upgrades to the Victoria Curling Club and renovations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Vancouver Island's Social Concern Office.
