New E-Book to Help Military Spouses Navigate Educational and Career Success

Grantham University's Latest Publication Provides Information on Continuing Professional Development and College Courses Even If the Family Is Relocated Across the World

KANSAS CITY, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/19/13 -- The life of a military spouse is unique. They are frequently asked to juggle family responsibilities and careers while the possibility of relocation looms overhead. Keeping these circumstances in mind, Grantham University has published a new e-book specifically for military spouses, The Military Spouse's Guide to Education and Career Successes.

"When my husband was deployed, I had to wear the mom and the dad hat," said Sheila Kennedy, a Grantham graduate who received her bachelor of science in business management. "After sitting in a classroom three days a week for a semester, I realized that this didn't work with my life. I worked 10-hour days, and my children participated in activities. My time on campus wasn't worth sacrificing their passions."

A 2007 study by the National Military Family Association supports Kennedy's feelings. They surveyed nearly 8,000 military spouses who felt the same frustration of wanting to pursue their goals, but not having the ability to do so.

The MyCAA program through the Department of Defense has helped alleviate some of the financial roadblocks for military spouses looking to pursue their degree, but that's only a partial solution. In The Military Spouse's Guide to Education and Career Successes, readers will gain insight on how to:

  • Choose an upwardly mobile career that fits into the military family lifestyle
  • Manage taking classes while still maintaining day-to-day activities
  • Find scholarships that will help cover the cost of education
