Santa & His Elves Bring Thousands Of Toys To 10,000 Poor Children & Their Families On Skid Row At Fred Jordan Mission

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Thousands of impoverished inner city children will receive not just one, not just two but several new toys at Los Angeles' largest Christmas Toy Party at the Fred Jordan Mission today Saturday, December 21 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.  Friends of Disney will greet the children, and Santa Claus will lead more than 10,000 children and moms to the Toy Giveaway tables where each child will receive three or four toys, and assorted warm clothes.  In addition, each mother will receive a Christmas dinner food bag filled with fresh turkeys or chickens, fresh vegetables and fruit, and enough food to feed their family a special Christmas dinner.  The Family Christmas Celebration will be held at the Fred Jordan Mission, at 445 Towne Avenue, on the corner of East 5th and Towne, in downtown Los Angeles.

Toys have been collected from toy drives run by companies like Deloitte, Galpin Motors, MTA, Penske Motor Group, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, as well as schools and churches throughout the Southland -- the nearly 30,000 new toys will be distributed to eager little children, along with Christmas Dinner food bags, blankets, clothes, and so much more.  Thousands of poor and needy boys and girl's faces will light up with joy and wonder when they see the mountain of new toys, and realize they can take home what may well be the first NEW toy they have ever received.  To thousands of families who do not have a real home, the Fred Jordan Mission is truly their home at Christmas.  Volunteer elves will be cooking warm cookies, and milk and cookies will be enjoyed by everyone, not just Santa on this special day!

These disadvantaged little ones and their families will be treated to a variety of entertainment, including friends of Disney, Santa Claus, as well as musicians and carolers who will join the celebration to make this a spectacular day for some of the neediest in our midst.  Willie Jordan, Mission's President and widow of the Mission's founder, will share the Christmas Story.

Volunteer elves will help distribute donations from companies and organizations from all over the southland including: The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Walt Disney Company, L.A. County Sheriff's Department,  Deloitte, Feed the Children, Penske Motor Group, Woodcrest Schools,  Galpin Motors, Bank of America (Chino Hills), CSUN's Beta Alpha Psi, Saint Rest Baptist Church, Johnson Controls, Halstrom Academy, Capo Beach Church, Calvary Chapel South Bay, Merrill Lynch, Jenny Smith, Bloomingdales, Farmers Insurance, Crespi High School, the Office of David Agular, Kayp Clothing Company, John West, Paul Mitchell, the School (Sherman Oaks), California Baptist University and Altadena Dairy.
