Evena Medical's Eyes-On(TM) Glasses to Be Exhibited at Epson's SmartWare Pavilion at 2014 International CES

Product Demonstrations to Take Place From 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, January 7, 8 and 10

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwired) -- 01/03/14 -- 2014 International CES, Room S214 -- Evena Medical, a leader in the development of high-quality, high-definition imaging for fast, accurate and precise venous access, today announced the company will be providing demonstrations of its Eyes-On™ Glasses at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Evena Eyes-On Glasses is a one-of-a-kind point-of-care wearable unit which enables nurses at the bedside to see "through" a patient's skin to the vasculature beneath; with Evena's Eyes-On Glasses, even hard-to-locate veins are easier to see and access.

The demonstrations will take place at Epson's SmartWare Pavilion in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall, meeting room S214, January 7, 8 and 10, from 11:00 am -12:00 pm. Evena representatives will also be available throughout the week to provide information about the product, or give additional demonstrations as requested.

"We are excited to showcase Eyes-On Glasses at CES, and view this as an excellent opportunity to expand visibility for the product as we prepare for our U.S. rollout in the spring of 2014," said Frank Ball, Evena Medical President and CEO. "We've seen significant interest in the Eyes-On Glasses so far and feel its small, portable, user-friendly format is being recognized as a great asset for hospitals and other healthcare centers looking to solve the problem of difficult intravenous access."

About IV Access
Intravenous (IV) access is the most common invasive medical procedure today. There are roughly one billion venipunctures for drawing blood and initiating IV therapy annually in the US(1). In the hospital, virtually all patients receive IVs for both drawing blood for laboratory analysis, and for administering fluids and/or drugs. It has been estimated that up to 60% of children and 40% of adults require multiple attempts to access a vein(2, 3), and in challenging clinical environments the failure rate can be even higher. Imprecise IV access can result in adverse events related to drug delivery outside of the venous system and when IV access is not achieved, therapy can be delayed or cancelled -- impacting patient care and hospital revenues.

About Eyes-On Glasses
Featuring a patented design that incorporates multi-spectral 3D imaging and wireless connectivity, Evena's point-of-care Eyes-On system is the first vein detection device to deliver clear, anatomically accurate, real-time imaging in a wearable, easy-to-use, hands-free and cart-free system. The Eyes-On system utilizes the Epson Moverio™ "smart glasses" technology platform and its unique "look-through" capabilities to offer one of the first healthcare applications of smart glasses commercially available on a global scale.

Evena's Eyes-On Glasses include digital storage to enable easy verification and documentation of vein patency throughout a patient's stay in the hospital, and telemedicine capability to share images remotely. The system also interfaces with hospital electronic medical records systems for seamless documentation.

Even though it’s now Microservices Journal, long-time fans of SOA World Magazine can take comfort in the fact that the URL – soa.sys-con.com – remains unchanged. And that’s no mistake, as microservices are really nothing more than a new and improved take on the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) best practices we struggled to hammer out over the last decade. Skeptics, however, might say that this change is nothing more than an exercise in buzzword-hopping. SOA is passé, and now that people are ...
