Canopy Co. Names Additional Board Member and Will Open Series B Round of Growth Capital

Canopy Co. (www.canopyco.com), developer of Sensus™, the world’s first touch-sensitive, app-enhancing smartphone case, which extends touch control on the iPhone’s screen to the sides and back surface of the case, announced today that Steve Babick has joined its board.

Mr. Babick is principal of B-Con Capital Corp, which provides board and investment portfolio services for several emerging companies. Previously, he was President of Exclusive Connections, and COO and board member of iModa, a mobile encryption company. From 2007-2010, he served as President & CEO of MetroSplash Systems Group and, in 2007, as VP-Finance & Global Field Operations for i2 Technologies, where he was responsible for financial planning & analysis and customer experience metrics for a global sales, marketing, and services organization. Previously he was interim CFO for UVM, Inc./Alta Communications and C121 Mobile/Cienda. He began his career at Texas Instruments, after earning a BS at Florida State University and an MBA at Amber University.

"Steve's experience with fast-growing emerging technology firms will be invaluable as Canopy now begins its Series B fund-raising," said Barbara Stinnett, Canopy executive chairman.

"We are delighted to have Steve's financial and consumer expertise as we continue to expand and strengthen our board," said Andrew Kamin-Lyndgaard, Canopy cofounder and CEO.

Canopy invites interested parties to meet with its executives at International CES in Las Vegas, January 7-10, 2014, booth number MP40023.

About Canopy
Minneapolis-based Canopy (www.canopyco.com) develops and delivers innovative products and applications that enhance and elevate the functionality and usability of mobile devices. It leverages the vast opportunities created in recent years by the booming market for smartphone apps, accessories, and "appcessories" (accessories with app integration). Canopy is doing for iPhone accessories what Apple did for the mobile phone, by creating an application and developer-friendly hardware platform that drives both hardware and app sales. Canopy’s key differentiation is its hardware platform, which bridges these two disparate vertical revenue streams. This hardware-platform business model drives effective promotion and sales to consumers via third-party app developers. Canopy was awarded the coveted MFi License (Made For iPhone) status by Apple, a designation only given to a small fraction of technology companies. The company is revenue stage and well-positioned with multiple patents pending, scalable offshore manufacturing, and established domestic and international distribution partners.
