Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced two additions to its high performance PC lineup: the ATIV Book 9 and the ATIV One 7 2014 Editions. The ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition maintains the iconic design legacy of the award-winning Book 9 with enhanced computing power, mobility and touch capabilities, while the powerful ATIV One 7 2014 Edition offers the premier at-home computing experience. Samsung’s 2014 ATIV product line offers the ultimate blend of stylish design and premium features while creating a synergistic experience that will revolutionize users’ connected lives. The new PCs will be on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Samsung’s booth, #12004 in Central Hall, from January 7-10, 2014.
“Samsung is dedicated to developing products that meet consumer demands, and in 2014, we will build on some of our best PCs to bring consumers even more premium style, enhanced functionality and seamless interconnectivity between their devices,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of consumer IT product marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “The ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition and ATIV One 7 2014 Edition embody our commitment to offering premium devices with sophisticated style, high performance and a unified experience between all mobile devices that fit the demands of our consumers.”
ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition
In keeping with the award-winning design of its predecessor, the Samsung ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition delivers enhanced productivity and mobility for a premium computing experience that can keep up with the most demanding power user. With a choice of two processors available (Intel® Core™ i5 or Intel® Core™ i7) the Book 9 is optimized for ultimate efficiency, allowing users to access the information and programs they need nearly instantly. Taking all-day computing to the next level, Samsung engineered a 40 percent increase in battery life, extending usage to up to 14 hours for increased accessibility on the go.
Constructed with a sophisticated aerodynamic build, the 2014 Edition offers users an easier viewing experience with a 15.6-inch full HD display. This is an 8.2 percent increase in size from the previous model, which enables users to easily work on multiple windows, while ten-finger multi-touch capabilities allow input directly via the screen, or via touchpad and keyboard. With 300nit SuperBright™ technology, the Book 9 offers a brilliant and interactive viewing experience. The introduction of a new anti-reflective coating will help reduce glare on the screen, making the screen easy to view in direct sunlight.
When developing the latest Book 9, Samsung focused on improving the design and productivity of the keyboard. By taking into account consumer and industry feedback, Samsung engineered a high-quality keyboard that matches the premium nature of the PC. By eliminating the flat key plane, the keyboard curves to fit and cradle the user’s fingers, and with the addition of rubberized coated keys, key tapping is drastically reduced. The result is a more comfortable and efficient typing experience.
Rounding out the first-class qualities of the Book 9 is the addition of the laptop industry’s first lossless audio component, featuring the same Ultra High Quality Audio as professional recording studios. Samsung is driving innovation and delivering the best PC audio experience for consumers, ahead of the curve. This feature, coupled with SPlayer+, pre-installed software, produces unparalleled, dynamic sound quality that is ideal for enjoying music the way the artist intended.
ATIV One 7 2014 Edition
Appropriating design aesthetics from Samsung’s award-winning GALAXY product line, the ATIV One 7 is a stylish and superior All-In-One that offers a premier at-home computing experience with a sleek, minimalistic design. Engineered to communicate with the latest GALAXY devices, the One 7 2014 Edition is built with the consumer’s mobile lifestyle in mind. Slim and elegant with a premium metallic edge, this desktop PC is designed to be a staple of your home office.
The stunning 24-inch, full HD screen delivers brilliant, vivid images while the incredible 178° free angle viewing and brilliant sound features (Dual 7 Watts Speakers with Tweeter & Dolby™ Home Entertainment) allow for easy enjoyment with friends and family. The addition of HDMI input allows users to switch from a PC to an HDTV effortlessly.
With 1TB of storage capacity and incredible speed (Intel® Core™ i5 processor), the ATIV One 7 embodies the ultimate home PC with unprecedented functionality and effortless mobile convergence, while premium styling make it the perfect addition to any home office or living room.
Seamless Connectivity with Samsung Software
Further enhancing the Book 9 and One 7 2014 Editions are Samsung’s proprietary technologies, SideSync 2.0 and Samsung Link, both of which allow for seamless interconnectivity between your PC and other devices. With SideSync 2.0, users can easily interchange working between their PC and GALAXY smartphone by simply linking the two devices via a USB cable or even over WiFi. When connected through USB or wirelessly, users can effortlessly work across devices, including responding to a text on a mobile phone from the PC keyboard; viewing maps, photos and multimedia from their phone on their PC screen; making edits to files on their phone via their ATIV PC; and even dragging and dropping files from one unit to another. The result is a more unified experience, fewer interruptions to work and everyday life, and the ability to utilize the best features of both devices.
With the inclusion of Samsung Link, the ATIV Book 9 and One 7 act as cloud hubs where all of a user’s multimedia and content is stored and readily accessible anytime, anywhere from their mobile device. In addition, users can connect their All-In-One to their GALAXY devices wirelessly through BT Music Play 2.0, which can even access music from the PC when it’s powered off, resulting in ultimate convenience.

The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp. When working with time series data there are a few core principles that everyone should consider, especially across datasets where time is the common boundary. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Jim Scott, Director of Enterprise Strategy & Architecture at MapR Technologies, discussed single-value, geo-spatial, and log time series dat...
