Surgical Leaders and other Medical Experts Discuss Lessons Learned from Asiana Airlines Accident Response

CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, January 14, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and hosts John Maa, MD, FACS, and Shelley Marks, MD, FACS, will bring together health care leaders from across the Bay Area for the ACS Surgical Health Care Quality Forum Northern California, to share the successes and challenges in trauma/critical care delivery in the days and weeks after the July 2013 Asiana Airlines accident. Participants will discuss new solutions to improve the quality of patient care and strengthen emergency care systems through regionalization, coordination, and enhanced collaboration.

WHAT: Media representatives are invited to attend the program to hear California health care leaders and others examine key learnings that response teams, hospitals, and clinicians uncovered as a result of the Asiana Airlines accident, to improve trauma care for future patients. This includes investing additional resources to transform the emergency care system to address larger challenges facing emergency rooms nationally and worldwide, such as mass disaster preparedness.
