WASHINGTON, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Eric Byer, president, of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) announced two changes in his senior management team. Byer, who recently joined NACD as its president, has promoted Lucinda A. Schofer to chief operating officer from vice president, marketing and member programs. Schofer's new position will oversee many critical areas of the Association's operations and member services, including: board and committee governance, membership, communications, finance/accounting, human resources, education and strategic partnership programs.
Byer also announced that Kurt McMillan, currently NACD's vice president, business management, is leaving the organization in early March. McMillan is departing to join The Fertilizer Institute as its vice president of member services and chief administrative officer. From September through the end of December, McMillan served as interim president of NACD. He also led NACD's relocation to new office space in December.
"Kurt has been an integral part of the NACD senior staff for quite some time and will be missed," stated Byer. "We wish him the very best moving forward."
As COO, Schofer will oversee NACD's human resources, finance and accounting teams, membership recruitment and retention programs and develop new strategic partnerships to support members in both services and cost-saving benefits. She will also continue to broaden the Association's education portfolio by enhancing existing programs, creating new courses and growing the Emerging Leaders program. In addition, Schofer will manage the Association's communication's team.

Schofer joined the NACD staff in March 2008. She has been responsible for the Marketing & Member Programs department handling the majority of dues and non-dues revenue generating programs and services. In addition, she has led all of NACD's meetings and communication initiatives. Prior to joining NACD, she worked for the American Chemistry Council (ACC) for 16 years, most recently as Director of Marketing. Lucinda holds a B.A. in Speech Communications from the University of Maryland.
