NEW YORK, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas W. Butcher, CPA, has joined STV as chief financial officer. In this role, he will oversee the firm's corporate financial management and its information technology department.
Butcher brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance to STV, most recently in the architectural, engineering, and construction management industries. Prior to joining STV, he was the chief financial officer and treasurer of a privately-held civil engineering firm. In that role, he also served as administrator of the firm's employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and a member of its 401(k) committee and strategic planning group. Butcher began his career with the global accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP.
"I am pleased to welcome Tom to STV, and I look forward to relying on his extensive professional expertise as we lead STV into the future," said Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, president and chief executive officer. "As a 100-percent employee-owned firm, his ESOP experience will be particularly valuable to us."
Butcher earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Hampshire and bachelor's degrees in accounting and history from Marietta College. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Butcher is replacing Peter W. Knipe, who retired from STV as CFO after 34 years with the firm. Knipe will continue to consult with the firm and will remain a member of STV's Board of Directors.
"Peter played a vitally important role when STV transformed in 2001 from a publicly traded company to one that was privately held," said Dominick M. Servedio, P.E., executive chairman. "Over the years, he has been instrumental in the growth and success of the firm."
STV celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012. Since its earliest predecessor firm opened its doors in 1912, the firm has grown to become a leader in providing architectural, engineering, planning, environmental, and construction management services for buildings and facilities, transportation systems, energy and infrastructure. STV is ranked 40th in Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms survey. STV is 100 percent employee-owned.
