Monégasque philanthropist and entrepreneur, Mr. Wojciech Janowski has established the Monaco chapter of the Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which joins more than 25 other such Friends organizations worldwide. "We are harnessing the generous philanthropic spirit of the people of Monaco to support the mandate of this world-renowned educational institution," said Mr. Janowski.
The members of the Monaco Friends of Hebrew University have unanimously appointed Mr. Janowski as President and Aaron Frenkel, Donald Manasse and Smadar Eisenberg as Vice-Presidents. Monaco Friends of Hebrew University will provide funds for the university, support students and academics, sustain research projects across all academic disciplines and also promote opportunities to study at the University.
"We are delighted to see such a commitment to Hebrew University in Monaco," said Professor Aharon Friedman, Vice-President of Advancement and External Affairs of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. "The Monaco Friends will be a strong voice for the university in the Mediterranean region," he added.
Founded in 1925, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem counts eight Nobel laureates and four prime ministers of Israel among its alumni and researchers. With 23,000 students in 14 different faculties and more than 1,000 staff, Hebrew University is the leading educational institution in Israel.
Wojciech Janowski serves as the Honorary Consul General of Poland to the Principality of Monaco. He is also the co-founder of the charity, Monaco Against Autism and chairman of several international companies.
