Wall Street Horizon Releases New Historical Events Data Offerings

Wall Street Horizon, a leading provider of low-latency alerting and intra-day monitoring of single-stock event calendar data, today announced the availability of four new historical datasets for quantitative trading. These offerings leverage the company’s forward-looking and historical information on earnings releases and other corporate events to enable in-depth analysis of how those events impact the market. Quant traders and analysts can gain valuable insights to use in trading strategy development and model backtesting.

Wall Street Horizon’s historical data includes forecasts, confirmations and actuals for the events of 5,000 publicly traded North American companies going back to 2006. Events span corporate earnings releases, dividend announcements, conference calls, stock splits, shareholder meetings, investor conferences and more. The company collects this information from press releases, company web sites, SEC filings and proactive outreach to corporate IR departments.

The four new offerings add visibility into what was known ahead of such events, similar to tremors before an earthquake.

  • DateBreaks provides an audit trail of confirmations and revisions to earnings dates prior to the actual earnings announcements.
  • Daily Snapshots give clients an archived view into the Wall Street Horizon earnings calendar database projections as of any specific date.
  • Dividend Announcements indicate when a company declared a dividend as well as ex-date and amount, capturing the timestamp from the company’s announcement press release.
  • The Investor Conference dataset tracks companies presenting at buy- and sell-side conferences including when their participation became known.

“We provide quant traders and analysts with the data critical to analyzing the impact of single-stock events on prices and volatility,” said Barry L. Star, Managing Director for Wall Street Horizon. “With time-stamped data on both quakes and tremors, we’re enabling new ways to look at market behavior before, during, and after a specific event. Those insights can uncover new sources of alpha for equity and options traders, and be applied in models and trading strategies to create significant competitive advantage.”
