Michigan business associations support Governor Snyder's proposals to fix roads, improve education, attract business talent

WARREN, Mich., Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA) and its sister association, the Michigan Food and Beverage Association, said today it backs Michigan Governor Rick Snyder's proposals – delivered at this evening's State of the State address – to improve the state's transportation infrastructure, educational system, and provide a more welcoming climate for immigrant entrepreneurs and those with advanced degrees.

"We are pleased that Gov. Snyder, in his drive to 'Reinvent Michigan,' is continuing to push for much-needed improvements to our state's highways and bridges – an essential element in helping to attract and retain businesses," said Jennifer Kluge, president of both associations. "Likewise, it was gratifying to hear about his support for education at the K-12 level, while also welcoming highly-educated persons – technicians, health care, experts, entrepreneurs, and others – from beyond our shores. Both of those initiatives will build the talent base we need to continue to build Michigan's economy."

Kluge said she was also pleased that the governor highlighted the progress of Michigan through the addition of jobs, increased home prices, growing agricultural exports and the increase of personal income, to name a few. "Governor Snyder said we are the 'comeback state' and we truly are. The future is looking positive for our members and all residents of Michigan," said Kluge.

The Michigan Business and Professional Association boasts a statewide sphere of influence that no other organization of its kind can claim, leveraging a depth of programs and community initiatives that positively impact more than 150,000 businesses. Learn more at
