Two new versatile Subaru vehicles arrive at Kansas dealership

Subaru Impreza and XV Crosstrek now available for sale at Briggs Subaru of Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan., Jan. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Two of the newest vehicles to join the Subaru lineup are the 2014 models of the XV Crosstrek and the Impreza, both of which cater to different lifestyles. The XV Crosstrek is designed with the adventurer in mind. It's equipped with a number of different off-road features including the highest ground clearance of any Subaru model. The Impreza, on the other hand, is well suited for consumers who plan to keep their Subaru on more conventional roads.

The 2014 Subaru Impreza is offered as both a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback. Both models are fuel efficient and affordable, but consumers seeking a larger storage capacity are likely to find that the hatchback better suits their needs. When the split-folding rear seatback is collapsed, the Impreza hatchback provides roughly 52 cubic feet of storage space—much larger than the 12 cubic feet found in the sedan model. Both models of the Impreza do come with integrated roof rails, however, which provide plenty of extra space.

Roof rails also come standard on top of the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, which is offered strictly as a five-door hatch. The Crosstrek, which shares a lot of qualities with the Impreza hatchback, also offers 52 cubic feet of storage space with the rear seatback collapsed. New to the Crosstrek for 2014 is a hybrid powertrain which allows the crossover SUV to travel up to achieve a combined fuel economy of 31. It's the first hybrid offering from Subaru, but it's off to a good start. The XV Crosstrek is the lowest-emissions, most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive hybrid crossover in America.

Consumers are sure to appreciate the fact that both the 2014 Impreza and the 2014 XV Crosstrek recently received Top Safety Pick ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety after they scored high ratings in all five crash safety tests—including the newly-implemented small overlap front test. The new models join the Forester, Legacy and Outback as 2014 Top Safety Picks.
