NEWBURY, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 01/21/14 -- Micro Focus (LSE: MCRO.L), a leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, has confirmed two additional customers have achieved fast, cost-effective business application modernization using its Rumba technology. Allianz UK and Cooperative Communication have implemented Rumba to deliver efficiencies through streamlined business processes and improve the accessibility of core business applications through web, desktop and mobile interfaces.
Allianz UK - Improving productivity and efficiency
Allianz UK, part of Allianz SE Group and one of the largest general insurers in the UK, wanted to maintain its core mainframe-based policy administration system for the broker business, but improve its productivity and efficiency.
The existing system included modules for managing new business, renewals and claims, and is used extensively by the organization's call center agents, service users and skilled underwriters. As the application had been developed and refined over several years by the in-house team, it was of utmost importance that their investments and inherent competitive advantage, remained protected. Allianz UK chose Micro Focus' Rumba to securely update its mainframe technology with a set of compelling features, to provide better end-user experience.
"The application has been refined over the years and works exactly as it should, but deploying Rumba has delivered improved productivity and efficiency via macro functionality, keystroke recording, personalized reminders and bookmark features," said Adam Rates, Senior IT Manager, Allianz UK. "For many years Rumba has given us great performance. It runs effortlessly and without any problems. Our regular market assessments have always come out in favor of continued use of Rumba and our recent upgrade is testament to our on-going commitment. We envision using Rumba far into the future."
Cooperative Communications - Mobilizing the workforce
Cooperative Communications, a leading integrated communications provider (ICP) offering end-to-end voice, data, internet and enhanced broadband solutions to small and medium sized businesses, needed to make its core applications available to its staff 24/7 via mobile devices.
"As a telecommunications company it is important to easily access customer records," said Lou Lombardi, Jr., Chief Operating Officer at Cooperative Communications. "Rumba+ has enabled our customer service department to access applications that were previously only available via terminal emulation. In particular, Rumba + Mobile, which is part of the Rumba suite of products, has enabled us to extend green screen applications to our mobile salesmen via an iPad. Previously this information could only be accessed from the office. It has provided an easier transition with new employees, ultimately reducing overall costs."
"Our customers want to continue to exploit the value of their application software investments and modernize them to take advantage of leading technology developments such as mobile," said Derek Britton, Director of Product Marketing at Micro Focus. "Requiring no application code changes, Rumba is the risk-free, cost effective approach that enables customers to boost their business efficiency in a simple and flexible way."
Micro Focus Rumba 9.2, available on 21 January 2014, is part of a family of enterprise application modernization technologies from Micro Focus, which help organizations transform the value of their core business systems.
