Mass Notification Systems (MNS) are imperative due to the increasing number of catastrophic natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires; or other threats such as human killings, shootings, bombings. MNS are a subset of the emergency communication systems, and are essential to alert the masses before, during or after any emergency or any incident which can cause a disruption. MNS are being implemented across various industry verticals such as education, defense, healthcare, energy and power, government for enhancing public safety as well as business continuity.

Various rules and standards have been established so that the higher educational institutions and defense sector is regulated. These regulations provide the specifications of the MNS and also emphasize on their importance. These regulations play an important role in the design and integration of the MNS.
