Charleston Plastic Surgeon Discusses Male Breast Reduction to Treat Gynecomastia

Dr. Ram Kalus Uses Corrective Surgery to Help Both Adolescent and Adult Male Patients Suffering From Gynecomastia (Excess Breast Tissue) Boost Their Self-Esteem While Improving Their Physical Appearance

CHARLESTON, SC -- (Marketwired) -- 01/22/14 -- In recent years, Dr. Ram Kalus has observed an increase in the number of men seeking cosmetic enhancement procedures at his Charleston plastic surgery practice. As men of all ages work harder to maintain a healthy active lifestyle, they also want to feel as good as they can about their physical appearance. Dr. Kalus's older patients often opt for procedures such as facelift and eyelid surgery, while his younger patients are usually interested in a chin augmentation or rhinoplasty. However, Dr. Kalus finds that male patients of all ages who suffer from gynecomastia (excess fat and/or tissue in the breasts) can benefit from corrective male breast reduction surgery -- both physically and psychologically.

While gynecomastia is a very common medical condition that affects males of all ages, it can be particularly detrimental to boys and young men. As Dr. Kalus says in a recent blog post entitled Physical and Psychological Benefits of Male Breast Reduction, "Locker rooms, swimming pools, and the beach -- normal aspects to many boys' lives -- can turn into traumatic situations, as boys and young men struggling with gynecomastia can become subjects of ridicule and bullying."

Dr. Kalus notes that male breast reduction can be a solution to alleviate the stress and embarrassment that can result from gynecomastia. He also cautions parents that many children will feel uncomfortable speaking out if they are suffering from this condition. In fact, Dr. Kalus says some younger individuals may even develop social impediments, struggle with academics, or attempt to cope with their lack of self-confidence with drugs or alcohol.

Although gynecomastia can be caused by a number of factors, in the vast majority of cases there is no hormone imbalance or other medical condition that can be addressed to reverse the gynecomastia. The treatment is almost always surgical. The condition affects not only those who are overweight, but also boys and men who maintain a normal weight. Dr. Kalus, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Charleston, says, "Since breast tissue does not solely consist of fat, exercise and procedures such as standard liposuction will not always produce adequate results [to treat gynecomastia.]" By removing excess breast tissue and reshaping the chest, Dr. Kalus says male breast reduction can not only provide the physical benefit of a more proportionate chest, but can also result in a significant boost in self-confidence for his patients.

Some developers believe that monitoring is a function of the operations team. Some operations teams firmly believe that monitoring the systems they maintain is sufficient to run the business successfully. Most of them are wrong. The complexity of today's applications have gone far and beyond the capabilities of "traditional" system-level monitoring tools and approaches and requires much broader knowledge of business and applications as a whole. The goal of DevOps is to connect all aspects of app...
When an enterprise builds a hybrid IaaS cloud connecting its data center to one or more public clouds, security is often a major topic along with the other challenges involved. Security is closely intertwined with the networking choices made for the hybrid cloud. Consequently this approach requires risky, deep "surgery" including changes to firewalls, subnets...
