Dallas Surgeon Jack P. Gunter Honored as "Distinguished Fellow" by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons

AAPS Recognizes Dr. Jack P. Gunter for His Lifetime Contributions to the Field of Plastic Surgery

DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 01/22/14 -- Medical Director Jack P. Gunter, MD, of the Gunter Center for Cosmetics & Aesthetic Surgery was recently named a 2014 Distinguished Fellow by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS). According to AAPS, the Distinguished Fellow award formally recognizes Dr. Gunter's "personal achievements and lifetime contributions to the field of plastic surgery." This honor will mark Dr. Gunter's second consecutive year he was named a Distinguished Fellow.

Recipients of the Distinguished Fellow award are also commended at the 2014 AAPS Annual Meeting, which will be held April 5-8th in Miami. As an attendee, AAPS Past President and Chair of the Honors Committee David L. Larson, MD will introduce Dr. Gunter during the Opening Ceremony. An internationally recognized rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Gunter has dedicated his 35 plus year medical career to advancing techniques in the fields of rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and revision rhinoplasty. Recently, Dr. Gunter was also invited as a special lecturer to the 36th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (JSAPS), which was held October 17-18, 2013. JSAPS Chairman Otake Naoyuki praised Dr. Gunter as a leading authority of rhinoplasty in the U.S, and for making significant contributions to the concept of rhinoplasty in Japan.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gunter has consistently emphasized experience, repetition, and precise attention to overall facial harmony as the keys to performing successful nose surgery.
In his early years as a physician, Dr. Gunter pioneered methods for open rhinoplasty and also created educational tools to instruct other plastic surgeons on rhinoplasty techniques.

The Gunter Center for Aesthetics & Cosmetic Surgery in Dallas specializes in primary and secondary rhinoplasty surgeries. The practice also offers non-surgical skin treatments to restore and rejuvenate the face and body. As Medical Director of the Gunter Center for Aesthetics & Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Gunter directs and oversees all functions of the practice. While surgical responsibilities at the Gunter Center have been handed to Dr. C. Spencer Cochran, Dr. Gunter remains involved in managing the rhinoplasty practice.

Dr. Jack P. Gunter is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Gunter completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Michigan, and his otolaryngology residency at Tulane University EENT Hospital. He has more than 35 years experience in performing rhinoplasty and secondary rhinoplasty surgeries. As a recognized leader and researcher, Dr. Gunter also holds appointment as a Clinical Professor in both the Department of Plastic Surgery and the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and many others. Previously, Dr. Gunter was the recipient ASPS President's Award, and recognized as one of Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.'s Best Doctors in America.
