StatGear's Auto Survival Kit Designed to Help Save Lives Amid Cold Weather and Accidents Across the US

FLUSHING, N.Y., Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the National Highway Safety Administration, auto accidents kill more than 40,000 people in the U.S. each year and are the number one cause of death for people between the ages of 1 and 34, but thanks to the developers of a newly released Auto Survival Kit by StatGear, people across the US now have something that could save their life in case of an auto accident amid the current cold front and icy weather that's plaguing the nation.

"Our new patent-pending Auto Survival Kit design allows for the kit to be secured on the passenger side sun visor for easy access of our T3 Tactical Auto Rescue Tool and lots of first aid supplies in the event of an emergency," said Avi Goldstein, president of StatGear.

The availability of StatGear's Auto Survival Kit could prove to have perfect timing due to nationwide reports that increasingly icy roads, freezing rain, and gusting winds have contributed to hundreds of accidents across the US, keeping the country's emergency crews on their numbed toes.

Goldstein, who is a NY City Paramedic, explained that the purpose of the patent-pending kit design was to keep life-saving tools and supplies within an arm's reach in the event of an emergency.

With the frigid air that set records across the Midwest, stopping trains and planes and driving up energy use, which may deliver the coldest day across the U.S. in almost 20 years by a measure of heating demand, StatGear's Survival Kit could come in handy.

In fact, Tuesday's low in Chicago reached a record for the date of minus 16 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 27 Celsius), beating the mark of minus 14 set in 1884 and 1988, according to the National Weather Service.

It dipped to 4 degrees in New York, breaking a record for the date set in 1896.

On January 21, New York is expected to endure dangerously cold weather with a snow emergency status.

The cold and icy weather, a historically large contributor to auto accidents, is part of a pattern of extreme weather that occurs every decade or so, according to forecasters.

The Auto Survival Kit, according to Goldstein, has a unique patent-pending design which enables the entire kit to be secured to the passenger side sun visor.

"The Auto Survival Kit is made of stylish, yet durable EVA foam and is stuffed with commonly-used first aid and survival supplies ranging from standard gauze pads to tweezers for splinter removal," Goldstein pointed out, before adding, "The Auto Survival Kit also features the T3 Tactical Auto Rescue Tool in a side pocket for easy access."

The new survival kit, company officials say, goes hand-in-hand with its T3 Tactical Auto Rescue Tool, which was featured in the December 2012 Holiday Gift Guide of Men's Health Magazine.
