Goal Zero Named to Forbes' List of America’s 100 Most Promising Companies

Goal Zero, an innovator of portable solar power systems, today announced it has been listed at No. 62 on Forbes’ annual ranking of America’s Most Promising Companies. The list includes one hundred privately held, high-growth companies with bright futures.

Goal Zero’s inclusion on Forbes’ list comes after a momentous period of growth for the company, which saw a revenue increase of 16,000 percent since 2009 and a more than doubling of employees in two years. Goal Zero was also listed at No. 9 on the 2013 Inc. 500.

“We are thrilled to be recognized on such a prestigious list for the first time,” said Joe Atkin, president and CEO of Goal Zero. “This honor is a shared achievement of the entire Goal Zero team. We are committed to providing our customers with a smarter and more environmentally friendly way to live and connecting them with the aspects of their lives that matter most—their homes, families, health, businesses and, of course, their outdoor adventures where there are no electrical outlets. We will continue to execute and build upon this overarching vision.”

The company also recently won two International CES Design and Engineering Innovation Awards for its Street Charge solar mobile charging stations and Bluetooth–enabled Rock Out 2 Solar Speaker.

Goal Zero is the industry leader for renewable and reliable solar power, designed to give users the freedom to go anywhere, regardless of battery life. From cellphones to refrigerators, and everything in between, Goal Zero products keep users connected and powered up in any situation.

Forbes’ third annual list of America’s Most Promising Companies recognizes 100 privately held, high-growth companies. Companies that made the cut boast compelling business models, strong management teams, as well as notable customers and investors.

Forbes strove for a holistic gauge of young, privately held businesses, attempting to pin down their trajectories by taking a range of variables into account. Over the course of four months Forbes reviewed hundreds of applications. The final assessment is based on growth (both in sales and hiring), quality of management teams and investors, margins, market size and key partnerships. After verifying sales numbers, speaking with each company and debating their merits and blemishes, Forbes produces a final ranking.
