Evoz: the Brain behind Your Smart Devices

Evoz (www.myevoz.com), the complete software platform for the smart home, is announcing its expansion beyond the baby monitor market to new segments with full home monitoring capabilities. The company also revealed that as part of its growth, Evoz’ platform will be powering the next generation of British Telecom connected home products.

Currently, many products in the connected device space only offer basic functionality, such as remotely controlling and monitoring connected devices. The Evoz platform is built from the ground-up for the next generation of connected-device functionality. With a powerful back-end designed to analyze the massive amounts of data that connected devices are capable of providing, Evoz delivers useful services based on insights.

Imagine instead of merely monitoring your baby, you can track her sleep habits, and receive tailored materials to help create a personalized plan to improve your baby’s sleep, all based on real data. With special processing algorithms, you can now receive smart alerts when your child cries or automatically record a “hidden moment” clip of a cute event.

Alternatively, a home monitoring device can go beyond a simple connected camera to become a comprehensive home monitoring system that allows you to detect different events in your home (alarms, doorbells, etc.) and create tailored responses. With smart family member location and communication and intelligent response capabilities, if an alarm sounds while your child is home alone an automatic action can be taken to call your neighbor.

Evoz’ unique business model places an emphasis on building out its cloud-data aggregation services to provide comprehensive functionality by allowing for data-enabled personalized services to hardware providers. Partnering with large companies such as Belkin and British Telecom, as well as other consumer electronics companies, telcos, mobile operators, and security companies, allows Evoz to fully leverage its platform for both speed to market and unique services.

“Many of Evoz’ current and future partners are preparing to launch devices that interact with smartphones to capitalize on the growth of app-cessories and connected home solutions,” said Avishai Shoham, Co-Founder and CEO of Evoz. “Our platform not only enables a faster, more reliable launch of these products, but also allows for cutting edge features and customizable services.”

With $900k in seed funding, the round was led by Dave McClure and 500 Startups, with additional funding from Initial Capital, David Shen, and Medital, Evoz platform provides a full suite of solutions allowing for home monitoring, family monitoring, smart sockets, and more.

“500 Startups is thrilled to support Evoz in creating Bitcoin-enabled autonomous, self-flying drones that collect and process big data on genetic algorithms for the NSA. . .  Wait, what? They’re not doing that yet? Well, their big data enabled services for the connected home are still friggin’ amazeballs,” said Dave McClure, founding partner at 500 Startups.

About Evoz:

Founded in 2010, the company’s software platform collects and analyzes data for the purpose of delivering services in the home monitoring space. Avishai Shoham was inspired to create a smart monitoring device after the birth of his first child. As a new parent, the baby monitor was constantly on and never left his side, but was limited in range and functionality; he was determined to find a better way. Evoz currently has multiple partnerships including for services, software, and hardware.

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...

There's Big Data, then there's really Big Data from the Internet of Things. IoT is evolving to include many data possibilities like new types of event, log and network data. The volumes are enormous, generating tens of billions of logs per day, which raise data challenges. Early IoT deployments are relying heavily on both the cloud and managed service providers to navigate these challenges. In her session at Big Data Expo®, Hannah Smalltree, Director at Treasure Data, discussed how IoT, Big D...

The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp.
