Skills in computer programming, coding and gaming will continue to lead to hot job opportunities within the computer industry in 2014, according to a recent global survey by LearnToProgram, Inc. (LTP), a leading publisher of web, mobile and game development courses and books worldwide. In the survey of more than 400 LTP students worldwide, nearly 80% of those who learned these skills have secured jobs in the computer field. The most popular jobs found were programmers, software and web developers, and systems analysts. Several students started their own companies.
The survey was administered to students who had taken one or more LTP online courses in the past two years. The students range in age from older than 59 years of age to under 15. The majority of respondents were comprised of three age groups, 18–29, 30–39 and 40–49 and were evenly distributed. Students from more than 60 countries responded, with over 75%, the largest percentage of respondents, representing the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, India and Australia.
“The survey results are very encouraging for anyone interested in a job in the computer and gaming field and who is looking to acquire the skills needed,” said Mark Lassoff, president, LearnToProgram, Inc. “The survey results demonstrate that our quality online programming courses in programming, coding and gaming are successfully teaching students the skills they need to land good jobs in the hot computer field.”
Of those students who aren’t working, many are still in school, or are taking the LTP courses for continuing education in their current field, for fun or to change careers. The survey also reveals that the computer programming industry still appears to be male-dominated, with 349 males and 62 females responding.
