CancerInsurance.com Launches New Website

PLANTATION, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 01/29/14 -- CancerInsurance.com, an independent source and web-based marketplace for leading cancer insurance and critical illness insurance plans, announced today the launch of its new website to help Americans make informed choices when shopping online for supplemental insurance policies that deliver a lump-sum cash payment upon first diagnosis.

CancerInsurance.com makes it easy for people to search by ZIP code for instant cancer insurance and critical illness insurance quotes, compare options and apply online through an e-application with a digital signature form -- no medical exam is required. Applicants can also return to the site to view saved quotes, complete e-applications and chat live with a licensed insurance agent to answer questions.

CancerInsurance.com's supplemental policies from leading healthcare brands, such as Medico®, United American and Guarantee Trust Life, deliver a one-time, lump-sum cash payment on first diagnosis of a covered medical condition. Benefit amounts of up to $100,000 can be used how the policy-holder chooses while helping with out-of-pocket health costs, co-pays, alternative medicine, mortgage payments, lost wages and travel expenses.

"Cancer treatment is extremely costly and even the best health insurance will not cover all of the patients' needs beyond treatment," says CancerInsurance.com CEO David Goodman. "We want people to have product knowledge and easy access to smart supplemental options that families can feel confident will protect their future."

While the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is designed to improve access to coverage, preventive screenings and financial subsidies, gaps still exist in most health insurance plans. The gaps can leave people vulnerable to severe medical debt and bankruptcy without access to affordable in-network care with leading doctors in America and high-cost prescription drugs.

Out-of-pocket cancer-related costs can average in excess of $700 a month for cancer patients, according to a study from Duke University Medical Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In addition, a recent Associated Press article reports that despite the ACA, annual out-of-pocket costs could still be so high for cancer patients that they'll have trouble staying out of debt.

"Cancer is one of the most common chronic and costliest diseases for Americans. And at some point during their lifetime, the American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer," says Goodman. "While new prescription drugs, surgical techniques and other treatment innovations have helped patient's battle cancer, the financial costs of cancer care remain a burden to them and their families. Supplemental policies provide funds to access the care to survive and help financial recovery."

Cancer and critical illness policies are designed to complement traditional health insurance plans offered by employers as well as those found through the ACA's Marketplace.

CancerInsurance.com's new website is accessible across online devices, including smartphones, tablets and desktops. It also features a free "Broker Support Program" for insurance agents to provide supplemental cancer and critical illness insurance options for individuals and groups.

Not all cancer insurance and critical illness policies are available in all states in America. Visit www.CancerInsurance.com for more information or contact Jamie Szwiec at [email protected] for media inquiries.
