Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the company has received eleven Winter 2014 “Pick” awards for select software solutions, imageCLASS, imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE products as well as the 2014 “Most Energy-Efficient A4 Line of the Year” award from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI). These awards recognize the models and software chosen for delivering outstanding performance during BLI’s rigorous lab testing within their respective categories.
“Twice a year with our ‘Pick’ awards, BLI gives special recognition to the hardware and software products that provided outstanding performances in BLI’s unique lab-based evaluations,” explained Daria Hoffman, managing editor, BLI. “Products undergo in-depth testing that focuses on key attributes. Consequently, these are hard-earned awards that can help guide buyers and IT directors in their acquisition decisions.”
“Canon is proud to be recognized with a BLI 2014 ‘Line of the Year’ award for ‘energy efficiency’ and eleven BLI Winter ‘Pick’ awards for not only our hardware products, but two of our solutions offerings as well,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “These awards validate our commitment to providing options for businesses seeking to help enhance employee productivity and workflow with energy-efficient solutions.”
A4 Energy Efficiency Line of the Year
Canon has won BLI’s 2014 “Most Energy-Efficient A4 Line of the Year” for its current A4 line of printers and MFPs, which consistently demonstrated lower than average energy consumption in BLI’s real-world environmental job stream test. The award was based on the energy consumption of current Canon A4 models that BLI has tested to date1, which range from personal printers to large workgroup MFPs. BLI compared each device against current tested competitive models in each manufacturer’s product line. Any devices that achieved an energy consumption rate more than 35% below the competitive average qualified for inclusion in the “Line” award. The tested energy consumption of Canon’s eligible devices ranged from 35% to as much as 62% below the competitive averages for their respective groups. In addition, many of the printers and MFPs in the Canon A4 line offer additional features that help to reduce waste, such as toner-save and auto color modes that reduce toner use, automatic duplexing functionality that helps reduce paper use, and job review and proof modes that allow users to check job settings prior to printing or copying. Most of these devices also enter sleep mode during an error condition. These energy efficient attributes can help contribute to the reduction of operating costs for the end user.
In addition to the 2014 “Most Energy-Efficient A4 Line of the Year” award, select Canon product and software has been recognized as “Outstanding” in their respective categories by BLI, being awarded with Winter 2014 “Pick” honors which include:

Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of present...
