Fossil Celebrates 30 Years Of Vintage Inspiration With Global Tin Design Contest

RICHARDSON, Texas, Jan. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fossil (NASDAQ: FOSL), the iconic American lifestyle brand, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Since 1984, the company has been rooted in authenticity and a distinctive design aesthetic. Today, Fossil offers men's and women's watches and accessories including jewelry, handbags, small leather goods, and even clothing, in more than 400 stores globally.

Fossil kicks off a year's worth of activities with its global Tin Design Contest, starting January 30th. Inspired by colorful product tins of the 1940's and 50's, Fossil set out to create its own packaging that people would want to keep and treasure, while still expressing the iconic creativity of the brand. The Tin Design Contest harkens back to the company's graphic design roots, with a theme of  "On the Open Road." Fossil invites its design-minded fans to create their own iconic watch tins inspired by American travel of the '50s and '60s: vintage automobiles, roadside diners, and the sights along Route 66.

The Dallas-based company will judge submissions on originality, creativity, and representation of Fossil's modern-vintage style.  The top 30 designs will be posted in an online gallery for public voting and will be produced into actual tins to be displayed at Fossil stores and events throughout the year. A microsite, http://www.fossiltincontest.com, details the rules and regulations and will also host the gallery and voting.

Five finalists will be chosen:
One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000
Two (2) First Prize winners will receive $2,500 each
Two (2) Second Prize winners will receive $1,000 each
