Picsean partners with leading UK children’s publisher Egmont to create first digital Ben 10 magazine

Digital publishing technology company Picsean has partnered with Egmont, one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers, to create the first digital Ben 10 magazine.

Ben 10 is one of the biggest media franchises in the world and a much-loved children’s brand - the Ben 10 print magazine is the best-seller in the UK’s primary boys’ sector.

Specifically curated for the iPad, Picsean has brought the Ben 10 brand to life for readers with an exciting new experience that blurs digital publishing and interactive gaming, complementing the print format and appealing to young Ben 10 fans who are consuming content digitally.

The app is full of interactive elements, games and puzzles, including an animated comic strip story and interactive activities such as build your own alien, a Ben 10 crossword and hero test. With animations, video content and device features such as an accelerometer on iOS devices, it’s full of high-end technical wizadry.

"Ben 10 is a hugely popular children's brand and we're thrilled to see our partnership with Egmont UK come to life via an exciting new interactive gaming and reading experience" said Arjun Narayan, Picsean CEO.

The edition is Egmont’s first branded digital magazine.

Gillian Laskier, Managing Director, Egmont Magazines, commented: “2013 was definitely the year of the tablet, with usage doubling YOY for the primary boys’ age-group. Making magazine content accessible digitally, by bringing Ben’s adventures to life using exciting interactive content, provides fans with an additional platform where they can be part of Ben's world. We offer a complementary experience for current Ben 10 Magazine readers as well as reaching additional fans who might not read traditional books or magazines. With the right brand, the right content and the right digital platform, we view the extension of print publishing into digital as a key factor in our strategy to get boys reading.”

The Ben 10 app is available from the App Store newsstand priced at £1.99. Issues 2 and 3 will follow in spring and summer 2014.

Some developers believe that monitoring is a function of the operations team. Some operations teams firmly believe that monitoring the systems they maintain is sufficient to run the business successfully. Most of them are wrong. When an enterprise builds a hybrid IaaS cloud connecting its data center to one or more public clouds, security is often a major topic along with the other challenges involved. Security is closely intertwined with the networking choices made for the hybrid cloud. Consequently this approach requires risky, deep "surgery" including changes to firewalls, subnets...

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric.
