MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Soul and Vibe Interactive Inc., (OTCQB: SOUL), a video and computer games company that develops, publishes, and digitally distributes games and games-related content for video game consoles, mobile devices, and personal computers.
Soul and Vibe was founded with a business model that fully embraces digital distribution. Digital distribution significantly reduces the Cost of Goods Sold, bypasses physical media distribution channel challenges, and directs sales, marketing, and promotional efforts directly to the consumer.
In the video game industry, digital distribution is the process of delivering video game content as digital information, without the exchange or purchase of new physical media. This process has existed since the early 1980s, but it was only with network advancements in bandwidth capabilities in the early 2000s that digital distribution became more prominent as a method of selling games.
SOUL specializes in the creation of original intellectual properties and licensing brands from other companies. Its games in pre-production include The Wheaties Challenge, an adrenaline-charged arcade sports compilation; Bugaboo, an action-puzzle game; Grimwhiskers, a side scrolling, action game; a virtual-pet game; and The Dragon Wars, a character-driven battle game. Soul and Vibe's business model focuses on multi-platform support. Their licensed-brand and original IP-based games can be played on consoles, mobile devices, and personal computers. Each product is supported by a recurring release of monetized games-related content. The company has a license agreement with General Mills; and game development and publishing agreements for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, Windows 8, Windows Live, and Windows Phone with Microsoft Corporation, as well as for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and PlayStation Vita with Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC.
The increasing prevalence of digital distribution has allowed independent game developers like SOUL to sell and distribute their games without having to negotiate deals with publishers. No longer required to rely on conventional boxed sales to see profit, independent developers have seen success though the sale of games that would not normally be accepted by publishers to distribute. The PC and mobile platforms are the most prominent in regards to independent game releases, with services such as Steam and the iOS App Store providing ways to sell games with minimal to no distribution costs.
PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC") reports consumer spending on console, mobile, and personal computer game software topped $56 billion in 2010. Games Industry revenue is projected to reach $82 billion by the year 2015.
Candy Crush Saga, developed by King, is reportedly the most popular of the thousands of games being played on Facebook, Inc.. King reports that in June 2013, an average of 92 million daily active users played their games more than one billion times per day. King's top title to date, Candy Crush Saga, is one of the largest interactive entertainment franchises of all time. Candy Crush is currently the number one game in the "match-3" genre and is played by over 15.5 million people worldwide, each day on Facebook. It generates annual revenues of approximately $481 million.
Zynga Inc. is perhaps the most successful public online gaming company with over 50 million daily users. Digital gaming is becoming hugely popular and will continue to do so. The space for SOUL to market within is virtually infinite and extremely - hot right now.
