American College of Chest Physicians Applauds CVS' Decision to Halt the Sale of Tobacco

NORTHBROOK, IL--(Marketwired - February 05, 2014) - American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) President Michael H. Baumann, MD, MS, FCCP made the following statement today regarding CVS' decision to discontinue sales of tobacco products in its stores beginning October 1, 2014.

"This is a bold and brave step for CVS to take. Hopefully more retailers will follow suit soon. This is a great step to assist in reducing tobacco use and its well-documented, negative impact on health. The American College of Chest Physicians agrees with CVS that this is an appropriate decision. Tobacco products should have no place in an organization focused on health and wellness."
