2013 Education Year in Review Key Highlights

  • Gender:  According to the study, two out of three degree-seekers are women (66.21%).  Nursing and healthcare degree programs are sought after by primarily women (84.05%).  Men tend to outnumber women by the greatest percentage in technology (76.25%), science, math and engineering (75.98%) and business (60.51%)
  • Level of Education:  In 2013, 23.32 percent of degree seekers had received their high school diploma or GED, 27 percent have some level of college experience and 22.56 percent have received a bachelor's degree.  Over 7 percent of online degree seekers have completed a master's degree
  • Areas of Specialization:  Business Administration ranks first in popularity among degree-seekers, with 14.14 percent choosing this field, followed by Bachelors in Nursing (7.76%), and Criminal Justice (5.81%)
  • Geography:  California leads the nation with 11.16 percent of LendingTree Education degree-seekers residing in the state, followed by Texas (8.6%) and Florida (6.93%)
