CLEVELAND, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoTelis, Northeast Ohio's leading provider of hosted VoIP for small to medium size business, participates with Cleveland Council on World Affairs in the Community Connections Program as a host organization. The Community Connections Program, managed by the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered by World Learning, is designed to promote public diplomacy through the exchange of cultural ideas and values among participants, U.S. families and local community host organizations.
InfoTelis enjoyed having Maria Muntean-Lungu join their marketing staff to assist in several projects from October 11, 2006, through November 3, 2006. Ms. Muntean-Lungu is the Marketing Director at "Civital-Grup" SRL (Eurotel), a retail chain of mobile phones, digital equipment, accessories, and operator's products with 150 employees located in Moldova. Ms. Muntean-Lungu has been working for the "Civital-Grup" SRL (Eurotel) since March 1st, 2005. When she joined the retailer, there was only one person in the marketing department and marketing activity was at an initial level. During this time she has developed marketing activity to a well-organized structure leading her company to success. At "Civital Grup" she is responsible for implementing new services for clients, boosting sales through short or long term promotions, creating and designing shops, new stores openings, developing advertising concepts, setting up the merchandising principles, and establishing pricing policy. She also supervises four people in the marketing department.
"I had the opportunity to intern with the marketing team from InfoTelis. For the 3 weeks I spent within the company, I experienced the most exciting events and met other professionals from sales and marketing in Cleveland, Ohio." Ms. Muntean-Lungu attended the COSE Small Business Conference, and she had the chance to hear the key-note speaker, Steven Little's speech, "Seven Irrefutable Rules of Small Business Growth." She also participated at several useful workshops related to business growth and marketing strategies. "The COSE event gave me the possibility to introduce the country I come from and the company I work for back home to the main businesses in Cleveland. It was a great networking and cultural exchange event for me."
Her internship also included training on business management improvement topics hosted by the main representatives of local print media such as: "Smart Business," "Inside Business" and "Cleveland.com." Ms. Muntean-Lungu led a web redesign project. "I had the chance to spend time with the company's management and gain an in-depth insight of both technical and commercial sides of the VoIP business. To me, it wasn't just an internship; it was more like being a part of the team for a short-term period. I learned about American culture, business attitudes and relationships between enterprises and its customers and suppliers, customer care approaches and advertising."
The Cleveland program utilizes the most prominent and experienced local companies and organizations to provide input and training for the Moldovan participants. The goal of their experience will be to ensure an easier path for the implementation of standards and transition into the international business arena. Ms. Muntean-Lungu's background and interests are an ideal fit for a diverse company with close links to Eastern Europe like InfoTelis. According to Barbara Pretzer Morris, Director of Marketing at InfoTelis, "Maria has been a tremendous asset to our team. We have been able to share ideas and learn more about global economics and the impact on different cultures on website design and strategic marketing development." The two marketing directors were both thankful for the opportunity to learn and discover marketing ideas.
The goals of the internship portion of this program allow for interaction and cooperative work between American and Moldovan professionals. The internships are designed to provide participants with hands-on experience relevant to their chosen topic. Cleveland Council on World Affairs, a client of InfoTelis, created a program that benefits both the interns and their hosts. This program is an opportunity for the Moldovans to learn about American business practices and policies through practical experience in the workplace, and then be able to synthesize that knowledge and take it back to apply to their own businesses in Moldova. At the same time, it is an opportunity for InfoTelis team members to learn about the practices of Moldovan business and discover new and innovative ideas that will help InfoTelis in the future.
