The Object Management Group® (OMG®) is pleased to announce that it will be co-sponsoring two Oil and Gas Industry Information Days in the coming months. Both events will bring together industry players to better understand and identify business gaps where efficiency and safety of upstream oil and gas business processes can be improved through enhanced business process modeling capabilities.
Key objectives of the events include: establishing a roadmap for the adoption of existing standards, suggested industry standards that will result in such business process improvements, and encouraging collaboration with the Standards Leadership Council for the benefit of the global upstream industry.
“Adopting process and information modeling standards will not only improve operational efficiency in the Oil and Gas industry, but it will also allow inter-company collaboration and integration,” said Claude Baudoin, Owner and Principal Consultant of cébé IT and Knowledge Management. “This is crucial in complex, multi-company asset development projects, and can also have a big impact on real-time operations, safety, and regulatory compliance.” Baudoin acknowledges that there is “much concern about confidentiality issues among operators,” but argues that modeling standards “facilitate, rather than impede, the judicious exchange of key information and the integration of end-to-end processes.”
The first of the two-event series will take place on February 25th-26th in Houston, TX and will be hosted at the local offices of IBM. The second event will take place on March 30th-31st in Utrecht, Netherlands at the NH Utrecht Hotel. Both events will be co-sponsored by Energistics.
