Every tangible product sold in Europe can be identified using its EAN (European Article Numbering) bar code. Touslesprix.com, a pioneer in price comparison, is putting this data to work with EanFind, the first Europe-wide price comparer that uses bar codes. EanFind is being simultaneously launched in France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain. The search engine reveals the best price of any product among the 60 million in existence. With more than 16 million products, France-based retail websites represent more than one-fourth of all the products that can be compared with EanFind. Finding the best online deals, here and in neighbouring European countries is now easier for online shoppers.
The European price war is on…
EanFind uses bar code data to offer online clients a comprehensive view of the prices available in the five target countries. This new price comparer gives online consumers pricing information on new and used tangible products in the currency of the country where they are sold.
This international price comparing tool can reveal staggering price differences from one country to the next, including differences as drastic as 200%. For example, the price of the same model of dishwasher can vary as much as 600 euros, and that of a package of diapers can vary as much as 20 euros. Using EanFind on these products, well-informed shoppers save 30% to 60%!
…and consumers stand to win!
EanFind functions on the same principle in each country:
- The user enters the bar code or product name into the search engine;
- EanFind displays all the available products corresponding with the search terms, listed by price and by country;
- EanFind redirects the online shopper to the retail website of his or her choice, where the order can then be placed.
In addition to revealing the best retail price of a product, EanFind also gives quick access to the searched-for product’s accessories and their detailed information. Just like on the price comparing tool touslesprix.com, online shoppers can set up alerts to get real-time updates as soon as the price of a product of their choice goes down in any of the countries.
A community platform for the benefit of online shoppers
EanFind, which offers all the functions available in advanced price comparing technology, is a community platform that enables brand manufacturers, retailers and clients to continuously complete and enrich their product databases. Retailers and their partners, as well as online shoppers, will have the opportunity to share information on order processing times, dispatching, and shipping charges. All this information benefits the online shopper, promoting well-informed purchases with reliable retailers.
“Europe has had its geographical borders open for a long time… Free trade is the rule, and it is a good thing… Inhabitants of the frontier zones are already in the habit of crossing a border to get the best price on a given product. EanFind is a concept that uses the same principle, bringing European users closer together. It gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase products in other European countries in spite of their linguistic limitations. A French e-shopper can easily get a bargain on a product in Spain if the retailer offers shipping to France. The website currently handles the five main countries in Europe, but the service should be extending to other countries in the next few months. EanFind already includes information on 60 million products, making it the largest open access service bar code database in Europe!” explains Jean-Christophe Janicot, founder of EanFind.
Created in 2013 by Jean-Christophe Janicot, who also founded touslesprix.com, EanFind is the first price comparing search engine using bar code data to cover several countries in Europe. This platform, a major innovation in online price comparison, already handles more than 60 million products for sale in France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain. Twelve years of experience in the field were put to use to develop this tool.

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...

DevOps is all about agility. However, you don't want to be on a high-speed bus to nowhere. The right DevOps approach controls velocity with a tight feedback loop that not only consists of operational data but also incorporates business context. With a business context in the decision making, the right business priorities are incorporated, which results in a higher value creation. In his session at DevOps Summit, Todd Rader, Solutions Architect at AppDynamics, discussed key monitoring techniques...

What do a firewall and a fortress have in common? They are no longer strong enough to protect the valuables housed inside. Like the walls of an old fortress, the cracks in the firewall are allowing the bad guys to slip in - unannounced and unnoticed. By the time these thieves get in, the damage is already done and the network is already compromised. Intellectual property is easily slipped out the back door leaving no trace of forced entry. If we want to reign in on these cybercriminals, it's hig...

We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. For example, if you have an existing service – possibly built on a variety of different PaaS/SaaS offerings – and you want to add real-time communications you are faced with a challenge relating to user management, authentication, authorization, and validation. Service providers will w...
