Hart InterCivic a full service election solutions innovator and national leader in election technology based in Austin, Texas announced today the Cherokee Nation’s purchase of the Hart Voting System. The Cherokee Nation Election Commission unanimously voted to contract with Hart as their vendor in the hope of running their own independent elections by 2015. The deal is valued at over $200,000.
The Election Commission had hired outside vendors to run and support their elections lifecycle in years past. After consideration the commission found that purchasing their own election equipment would be a more viable long-term investment for the future.
“After reaching out to several vendors, we decided to contract with Hart InterCivic based on the overall level of vendor independence we hope to achieve in the near future and lower total cost of ownership,” said Connie Parnell, Director of Election Services Cherokee Nation. “There aren’t a lot of election providers left; we wanted to make sure we chose the right one for us.”
“Hart InterCivic was able to meet with our commissioners right away and in person,” Parnell commented. “We had a running list of questions in mind and Hart was able to answer each question to successful completion.”
As a result, 30 precinct scanners (half of the polling place equipment needed for the 2015 elections), election management software, computer hardware, and training and project management services were purchased. The Cherokee Nation will purchase the remaining precinct scanners in 2014.
