Prolight International Builds Fiber-Speed Wireless Network Throughout Egypt With Exalt

Exalt Microwave Backhaul Systems Deliver Reliable, Fiber-Speed Network Connectivity

CAMPBELL, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/12/14 -- Exalt Communications, Inc., the leading innovator of next-generation packet microwave backhaul systems, today announced that Prolight International, a wireless Internet service provider based in Giza, Egypt has deployed Exalt microwave backhaul systems to deliver broadband and VoIP services at fiber-speed to its business and residential customers across Egypt.

Because wireline infrastructure in Egypt is extremely unreliable and does not deliver the bandwidth Prolight International (Prolight) requires to serve its customers, the company chose Exalt systems to deliver high-speed Internet connectivity with high reliability. These systems currently carry 100 megabits per-second (Mbps) of Ethernet traffic, but can be expanded to 1 gigabit per-second (Gbps) via simple license key upgrades.

"Our valued customers are very critical of and sensitive to any lack of performance or threat to information security," said Hany M. Hefny, owner and general manager of Prolight International. "We use Exalt systems because they have the highest reliability, the best interference resistance, unmatched capabilities, low latency, maximum security, and built-in spectrum analyzers that make deployment simpler -- all of this at reasonable cost."

Prolight currently uses Exalt license-exempt Gigabit Ethernet microwave systems in all-outdoor configurations. These all-outdoor systems reduce the cost of deployment and improve security for the overall microwave solution when compared to indoor or split-mount systems, which require facilities and environmental control systems on the ground. Prolight has been so pleased with its initial Exalt deployments that it is standardizing its network on Exalt equipment.

"End-user demand for higher speed Internet access driven by video streaming, gaming, and other applications continues to accelerate throughout the world," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "Innovative service providers like Prolight are seizing this business opportunity by using Exalt systems to greatly enhance their services offerings, grow their businesses, and future-proof their networks to stay ahead of ever-increasing customer demand."
