Family First Home Companions Launches "Home In A Hurry" Program

BOHEMIA, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 02/14/14 -- Family First Home Companions, the Long Island home care agency, announces the launch of its "Home In A Hurry" rehabilitation program, which provides assistance to patients who are being discharged from a hospital or nursing facility. The company was also in the news recently when they announced the opening of a new satellite location at 445 Broadhollow Road in Melville, N.Y.

Jennifer Benjamin, owner and vice president of Family First Home Companions, believes that the Home In A Hurry program can be an essential element in transitioning senior citizens back into their home safely and effectively. "The first few days can be the hardest for senior citizens and their families when they are released from the hospital or nursing facility," said Ms. Benjamin. "Our new program helps them get settled safely and ensures that they don't return to the hospital."

Home In A Hurry caregivers come to the home for five hours per day during which time they ready the home by tending to household chores, doing the laundry, changing bed linens, doing the grocery shopping and many other necessary daily duties. The program also includes a free home safety evaluation by a trained caregiver who will evaluate the home for potential safety hazards and offer recommendations to make the home more adaptable for the well-being of the returning patient.

The company has also been busy in opening their new satellite office in Melville, N.Y. "In order to provide the best possible service to all of our clients, and to meet the increased demand for home companion services, we decided to open the Melville office," said Benjamin. "We believe that this office will provide faster service and easier access for home care services for seniors located in the Huntington NORC (naturally occurring retirement community), Plainview NORC, and the Town of Hempstead NORC."

Family First Home Companions is a full service home care agency that provides companions for hourly weekday and weekend care, overnight care and live-in weekday and weekend care. Their companions are non-medical caregivers who provide assistance to seniors in their daily activities at their homes. Family First Home Companions are qualified, compassionate caregivers who can help senior citizens maintain their independence, quality of life and peace of mind while still living in their own home. Now, with their new Home In A Hurry program, this same level of care and assistance is available to seniors who are transitioning back home from a hospital stay or time spent in a nursing facility.
