NEW YORK, Feb. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tailor Toys LLC, creators of the PowerUp® Electric Paper Airplane Conversion Kit, will showcase three of their innovative products -- PowerUp® 3.0, PowerUp® 2.0, and the PowerUp® Boat -- at the American International Toy Fair, the largest toy and youth product marketplace in the Western Hemisphere. PowerUp® Toys fuse traditional origami with cutting edge technology to bring homemade paper creations to life.
The PowerUp® 3.0 is an electric paper airplane conversion kit that connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth Smart. Using the PowerUp® smartphone app, PowerUp® 3.0 adds an interactive element to the classic paper airplane experience by converting self-made origami into a smartphone-controlled flying machine.
The PowerUp® 3.0 has gained recognition from tech and toy enthusiasts alike, receiving Popular Science's Best of Toy Fair 2013 Award at last year's American International Toy Fair. In January 2014, PowerUp® completed a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign that raised more than one million dollars from over 21,000 excited supporters around the world (http://kck.st/IfPkIA).
The PowerUp® 3.0 smartphone app – developed for both iOS and Android – is designed to resemble a cockpit. On-screen graphics include gauges for Bluetooth signal and battery life, as well as a thrust lever to increase propeller speed, allowing the airplane to gain or maintain altitude. Tilting the phone right or left controls the module's high-precision rudder, allowing you to steer the plane in midair.
The PowerUp® 3.0 Smartphone-Controlled Paper Airplane Conversion Kit includes a Bluetooth Smart module capable of over 10 minutes of controlled flight, a micro USB cable, paper templates (including illustrated waterproof paper), a spare propeller and a spare rudder. Ages 14+ MSRP: $49.99. Available June 2014.
PowerUp® 2.0 Electric Paper Airplane Conversion Kit is the next generation of free flight paper airplanes, allowing for up to 30 seconds of origami aviation. The PowerUp 2.0's improved power and performance provides a superior experience compared to previous PowerUp modules.
The PowerUp® 2.0 conversion kit includes the PowerUp® 2.0 module, a paper template, battery pack, quick charging unit and a spare propeller. The design has superior ergonomics, making the quick charging and launching process very easy.
The PowerUp 2.0 is currently being used in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) for elementary and middle schools, and has proven to be useful in encouraging hands-on experimental thinking through trial and error. Ages 8+ MSRP: $16.99.
PowerUp® Electric Paper Boat Conversion Kit is a creative bath toy that fuses homemade paper boats with a waterproof motor.
The PowerUp® Boat conversion kit includes a high-quality windup motor allowing for over 10 seconds of cruising time. The kit also includes a piece of waterproof "treasure map" paper that comes with clear folding instructions, enabling children to create their own boat before operating it; as well as a pirate figurine to man the ship, a pirate flag, and a toy anchor, contributing to hours of imaginative play. PowerUp® Boat is a do-it-your-self product that brings experimentation and creativity to bath time. Ages 8+ MSRP: $11.99
