NEW YORK, Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- DeliRadio v3.0 has arrived for iOS and Android. With a fresh look and feel, DeliRadio lets users hear, share and follow artists with upcoming shows in their vicinities. The newest features aim to enhance and encourage the social ritual of going out to see shows with friends, by bringing "who likes which bands" directly into playlists. As recently reported by The Wall Street Journal and Pollstar, hundreds of promoters around the world have already adopted DeliRadio club and festival stations as integral pieces of their digital marketing toolbox.
In the new DeliRadio app, users can now see, at a glance, which of their DR-friends is following each artist. Friend-avatars appear within playlists, adding an engaging and meaningful social depth to the listening experience. The company says these features are key to encouraging artist and event discovery, as well as ticket sales.
"Since 2011, DeliRadio has been making it easy for you to stream dozens, even hundreds of artists with upcoming shows near you, filtered by whatever genres you choose," says DeliRadio CEO, Wayne Skeen. "Since most of us go to shows together in groups, it seemed natural to give everyone the option to see their friends' avatars directly in stations. It all comes down to community-based artist and event discovery."
"Being able to hear the music of our upcoming bands play on our website when someone comes to see what's coming up at Brooklyn Bowl? Sounds awesome to me. And it is," says Peter Shapiro, founder of the Brooklyn Bowl venue chain (New York, London, Las Vegas). "Thank you, DeliRadio, for making this cool and very fan-friendly functionality so easy!"
In 2013, DeliRadio was nominated for a Webby Award for "Best Music App" along with Pandora, Songza, and VEVO. It was also a W3 Awards Silver Winner. Since 2011 DeliRadio has provided valuable exposure to tens of thousands of touring artists, while promoting more than 300,000 gigs at venues and festivals worldwide.
Launched in 2011, DeliRadio is a 21st century rethink of what "local radio" means. Rather than play the same handful of mainstream acts, DeliRadio starts by letting you select a nearby club or festival, or simply your general vicinity. It then plays you only artists with upcoming shows, filtered by genres you select, as a station. Stations can be freely shared with anyone. And when you follow an artist, DeliRadio will automatically alert you when said artist posts new music or adds nearby concert dates in the future.
Artists control which tracks are available for streaming and/or for download by fans. Artists keep 100% of their music sales revenue. Their tracks are automatically added to stations based on where they have upcoming concerts.
